2025 WTD: Kastina Gov. bags NUT outstanding award on education

The Executive Governor of Kastina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda bags Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT outstanding award for his administration’s tremendous and transformative achievements in the education sector in the state .

The award was presented to the Governor at the 2025 World Teachers Day Celebration in Abuja .

Some of his achievements as follows, Recruitment of 7,325 teachers to bridge manpower gaps in schools, approval and implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage for teachers, construction of over 3,000 additional classrooms and staff quarters in hard-to-reach areas.

Also, Establishment of learning hubs in security-prone areas to sustain access to education, procurements of learning materials and motorcycles for Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Evaluation officers, increment of feeding fees for improved pupils’ welfare, Prompt payment of WAEC and NECO fees for all deserving SS3 students.

Others are establishment of three standard special schools to provide effective and inclusive learning environments, particularly for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, Consistent prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and implementation of teachers’ promotions without delay, Training of over 30,000 teachers through continuous professional development programmes, in-service support, and provision of computers to enhance Learning/Teaching in the State and Initiative Governors Award on best/hardworking Teachers in the State, whereby a principal received a car award in the year 2024.

The NUT president, Comrade Audu Titus Amba during his remark at the ceremony commending the governor for his efforts and achievements in the education sector in the state .

He urged all other governors to prioritize inclusive and quality education in their various states .

Responding, Governor Radda noted that the recognition is an encouraging to do more for good people of Kastina.

He stressed that there is need to put more efforts and resources to restore the teaching profession.

“What will only this do to us is to encourage us to do more for the people. Because especially at the foundation level, because education is so serious and you know that we have been having challenges over the years.

“we need to put in so much resources, so much energy so that we can be able to restore the noble profession and also to recruit more teachers to handle our schools and this is just part of it and we have the intention of doing more and this is part of encouragement given to us by the Nigerian Union of Teachers,” he stated.

Others governors honored are Governor of Adamawa, Rt. Hon Ahmad’s Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
