Kano govt woos companies for operation of waste-to-wealth projects

Kano State Investment Promotion Agency, Kan-Invest, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has invited local and international companies, consortia and investors for the Expressions of Interest, EOI, for the development, financing, construction, and operation of Waste-to-Wealth projects.
In a statement by Naziru Halliru, Director General of Kan-Invest, in Kano on Monday, the two ministries invite partners with proven competence and experience to submit EOI, aimed at advancing a circular economy in the state and the nation as a whole.
According to him, the initiative seeks to transform waste management challenges in Kano into sustainable economic opportunities.
Mr Halliru noted that the potentials of the state indicates that a fully operational circular economy could generate over N500 billion in economic value annually while creating 200,000 direct jobs and significantly reducing environmental degradation.
The initiative, Mr Halliru said, is a bold step to implement one key outcome of the waste-to-wealth strategy workshop.
“You may recall that Kan-Invest convened the Kano Waste-to-Wealth Investment stakeholder workshop in Kano a couple of months ago, with the theme “Investing in a Circular Economy: Waste to Wealth Opportunities.
“The objective was to prepare a strategy to unlock sustainable investment opportunities in waste management, recycling, etc., while ensuring a cleaner environment,” the Kan-Invest DG said.
“Under the guidance of His Excellency, Governor Abba K Yusuf, the Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (Kan-Invest), in collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, wishes to invite reputable local and international firms, consortia, and investors with proven competence and experience to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the development, financing, construction, and operation of Waste-to-Wealth projects aimed at advancing a circular economy in Kano State, Nigeria.
“This initiative seeks to transform waste management challenges in Kano into sustainable economic opportunities. The potentials of the State indicate that a fully operational circular economy could generate over N500 billion in economic value annually while creating 200,000 direct jobs and significantly reducing environmental degradation,” he explained.
The statement said interested parties are encouraged to review the investment opportunities from categories A to D and apply via email: eoi@kaninvest.kn.gov.ng by October 27, 2025.
