The Association of Primary School Heads of Nigeria (AOPSHON), FCT wing has recognised the District Head of Paikon-Kore community in Gwagwalada Area Council, Ahmed Shangalo who was the former Headmaster of Pilot Science Primary School, Gwagwalada, alongside ten retired teachers, for their selfless services in the educational sector.
In his welcome address at the occasion, the FCT Chairman of AOPSHON, Mr. Chindo B. Ndenson, congratulated the recipients for their outstanding achievements.
He said: “I wish to personally apologize to our AOPSHON awardees on behalf of AOPSHON FCT for not celebrating you earlier than now. But then, it is better late than never as the popular saying goes”.
Ndenson used the occasion to thank the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in the FCT wing for donating an office to AOPSHON FCT wing at the NUT secretariat in Gwagwalada.
Also speaking, the former President of AOPSHON, Comrade Lawal Mahmud commended the leadership of AOPSHON FCT wing for honouring the outgoing members of the association.
Responding on behalf of awardees, the District Head of Paikon-Kore, His Royal Highness Ahmed Shangalo, thanked the leadership of AOPSHON FCT wing for the honour done to them.
He advised the entire teachers in the FCT to remain committed to their duties, urging them to transform the education at the places of their work.
The Royal Father, therefore, called on the management of Nigerian Union of Teachers to deem it fit to checkmate the activities of the teachers at their various schools in the interest of the pupils.
