The Taraba State 2025 budget appropriation now stands at N574.8 billion, following the signing of a N143.3 billion supplementary appropriation bill into law by Governor Agbu Kefas on Friday.
Peoples Daily reports that the governor also assented to a N14.68 billion virent earlier approved by the State House of Assembly.
It will be recalled that Governor Kefas had in September 2024 presented an initial budget estimate of N429.8 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Jalingo, the governor explained that the supplementary budget was designed to address urgent funding needs in critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, and the economy, as well as to cushion the impact of inflation and exchange rate pressures on ongoing projects across the state.
He stated that the implementation of the 2025 supplementary budget would run until 31st May 2026, with capital expenditure accounting for 68.9% and recurrent spending making up 31.1%.
The Committee further urged the state government to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely release of funds to achieve the intended goals of the supplementary budget.
