Former Deputy Governor of Edo, Rev. Peter Obadan, has counseled the Chairman of Independent National electoral commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, to demonstrate his competence in the Osun state Governorship election scheduled for August 9.

Obadan expressed fear that should the wish of the people be subverted, it may spell doom in the state and the 2015 general election.

Speaking at an interactive session with newsmen yesterday in Benin City, Obadan urged political parties participating in the election to stick to the rules of engagement, noting that the APC was not unmindful that the PDP was bent on securing victory through the back door.

“What happened in Ekiti State cannot re-occur in Osun State. We are now conscious as a party of what this people are capable of doing.

“We are quite in the know of what the PDP, which controls the power at the centre is capable of doing to win at all cost. They have forgotten that the President of Nigeria is not the President of the PDP but the entire country.

“The PDP at the centre boasts of the manipulation which they are capable of manifesting in every election because they control the centre. They foresee that in 2015, that power will slip off their hand. On the strength of that, they are taking every election as a do-or-die affair.

“There is no doubt that the governor of Osun state has performed, there is no doubt that he is on ground, and there is no doubt that the governor is well loved by the people. The PDP is frightened by this fact that on a free and fair election, that the incumbent governor cannot be defeated.

Obadan, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress of Nigeria (APC), however described the wind of impeachments blowing in some parts of the country ahead of 2015 General election as an embarrassment, just as he called for restrain.
