IGP cautions police personnel against corruption

In an effort to sanitize the service of the Nigeria Police in the country, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar yesterday warned police personnel across the nation not to involve themselves in any form of acts that would tarnish the reputation and good image of the Force.

Abubakar, who was represented by DIG in charge of Information and Communication at the headquarters, Abuja, Jonathan Johnson, gave the warning in Jos, at the graduation ceremony of the Tactical Leadership and Command Course IV held at Police Staff College Jos.

The IG said that his administration would not tolerate any form of corruption or indiscipline in the police force, promising to punish any staff that would undermine the efforts of the Police.

He reaffirmed that the mandate of the Police, which was protection of fundamental human rights of the citizens, was made possible through partnership with relevant security agencies.

Also at the event, the Commandant of the College, AIG Mark Idakwo said the course was designed for the rank for CSPs, with intensive academic, tactical and practical programmes.

He said that IG Abubakar was keeping with the modern trends of policing, as he made the development of its manpower a cardinal point of his administration.

The Commandant further said that the main objective of the training was to equip the participants with an in-depth knowledge of modern techniques and skills on leadership, explosive devices, intelligence-gathering, weapon-handling and distributing.
