Security, Fire personnel averts fuel tanker explosion in Niger State

A fuel tanker explosion has been averted in the early hours of Sunday morning at Takalafiya community in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.
The incident, which occurred around 8:00 o’clock in the morning involved a trailer ca
The trailer overturned while the contents spilled at the accident scene.
It was reliably gathered that the swift intervention of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBUL) Fire Service and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) averted a potential fire outbreak.
An eyewitness told our reporter on telephone that members of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Lapai Chapter, also mobilised to the scene to assist in managing the situation and prevent scooping by hoodlums.
According to him, some of the spilled fuel was recovered and reloaded into drums to prevent wastage and environmental hazards.
