CDS pledges to make Nigeria safer, seeks citizens’ support

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS),Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has pledged that the Armed Forces will intensify efforts to make Nigeria safer and more secure.

‎Oluyede made the pledge while speaking with State House correspondents after the decoration of the new service chiefs by President Bola Tinubu on Thursday at the State House, Abuja.‎

‎He said the President’s charge to the service chiefs reflected the administration’s strong commitment to ending terrorism and improving national security.

‎“I assure Nigerians that we are going to do our very best to make Nigeria safer, and that was emphasized by Mr President, who charged us to do everything possible to secure the country,” he said.

‎The CDS noted that terrorism had persisted since 2009 but assured that the new military leadership was determined to bring it to an end.‎

‎“We’re going to do our very best with the support of Mr President, the government, and the good people of Nigeria,” he added.

‎Oluyede urged Nigerians across all ethnicities to support the Armed Forces, saying national security required collective effort.

‎“Security should be everybody’s business. Without the support of Nigerians, we can hardly achieve anything,” he said.

‎The CDS expressed optimism that with unity and cooperation, the Armed Forces would restore lasting peace to the country.

‎‎“I want to assure Nigerians that at the end of the day, we will make Nigeria safer. That’s our promise to you,” he said.
