Tension has gripped Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State following the killing of a former councillor and the abduction of two of his sons by suspected terrorists in Kaya, the home village of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the community late Sunday night, shooting sporadically before targeting the home of the former councillor. He was reportedly killed on the spot, while the gunmen whisked away two of his children to an unknown location.
Residents described the attack as “terrifying and coordinated,” adding that the assailants operated for several minutes without resistance.
Local vigilantes and security operatives were said to have launched a search operation early Monday morning, though no official statement has yet been released by the Adamawa State Police Command or the state government.
The tragic incident has heightened fears in the area, especially as Kaya holds symbolic significance as the ancestral home of the state’s governor.
