Authorities of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) yesterday said, after several investigations and findings, it was discovered that the Federal Government (FG) has no hand in the attempted attack on former Head of State, general Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna.

The Ag. Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Suleiman Abba made this known at the Force headquarters Abuja while declaring open his maiden meetings with the NPF high commands.

He said his men visited the scene of the attack and some victims, interviewed some witness and went as far as speaking with the highly respected General and the people with him on the day of the attack and came to a conclusion that FG was not involved in the attempt on his (Buhari’s) life in any way.

He further said the suspect arrested at the scene of the crime is currently being investigated adding that the police in the area have arrested him on a number of occasions before now for his involvement in nefarious activities.

Abba said the essence of the meeting is for the police high command to strategise on improving safety of Nigerians, which is their sole responsibility.

He said the greatest weapon him and his team members will use is to change attitude of police officers to work.

The IGP also said Police has deployed enough men to Osun state since last Saturday, ahead of the gubernatorial elections, as against the usual three days, noting that it is better to have more than enough men than less.
