Rivers: Nigerians have rejected Tinubu – ADC rubbishes lawmakers’ defection

Date:

By Jude Opara

Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), Rivers State chapter, Leader Sampson says President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives, Congress, (APC), government has been rejected by citizens.
Sampson made the claim while reacting to the defection of 16 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule.
It would be recalled that the lawmakers on Friday dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) for the ruling party, signaling another wave of political crisis in the state.
Reacting to the move, the state ADC Chairman said there was no need for the defection, stating that the APC government had only brought killings and poverty to Nigerians.
“The only things they brought to us are killings, hunger, and poverty. They want to force themselves on Nigerians.
“The truth is that Nigerians have rejected the government of Bola Tinubu. Whatever they are doing, Nigerians are waiting for them in 2027”, he said.
Sampson also condemned the endorsement of President Tinubu’s re-election bid by the Rivers State Assembly members.
He accused President Tinubu’s administration of prematurely starting the 2027 campaign, saying the APC is being desperate.
“The government is already campaigning. They are already doing everything to win the heart of the people. They know that Nigerians are not happy”, he added.
