Yobe State has cleared a major hurdle in its bid to commence direct international hajj flights from its capital, signing a critical agreement with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
This was contained in a statement signed by Dr. Mustapha Abba Geidam, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Transport and Energy.
He said, the final Memorandum of Understanding paves the way for the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport (MBICA) to begin airlifting pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj season.
He added that, the agreement, signed between state officials and NiMet’s Director-General, Professor Charles Anosike, completes the triad of essential aviation service partnerships.
