Kuje donates instructional materials to schools

To ensure qualitative education for children, Kuje Area Council has doled out books and other educational materials to the Local Education Authority (LEA) for onward distribution to both public and private schools in the area.

Presenting the items council Chairman, Shaban Tete, reiterated that the administration placed education at the top of its priorities as it was crucial to the future of children and nation at large.

Represented by the vice chairman, Danjuma Mohammed, Tete said the materials would be distributed free of cost, adding that any school caught selling them would be sanctioned.

Also speaking, a representative of FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), assistant Director of sport and health, Aboki Baba, described the gesture as laudable, which would go a long way in cushioning the burden on parents to purchase books for their children.

He warned schools who denied pupils opportunity to attend classes due to inability to pay school fees or buy text books to desist from such as every child was entitled to basic education. In his welcome

address, Head of Department of Education and Social Development, Abmilo Yaro, said the need for basic education cannot be over emphasize as it is the bedrock for development of any society.

He disclosed that about 150,000 books and dossiers were produced for the benefit of schools in Kuje.
