FCT Area Councils’ election: Church leaders back Maikalangu for AMAC chair

Christopher Zakka Maikalangu has received a boost as religious leaders in Nyanya, Jikwoyi,  Karu, Orozo and Karshi wards in the zone A of the municipality pledged their support for his candidacy.

At a meeting of special pastors and church leaders held in Jikwoyi, at the weekend, the religious leaders said they have seen and heard of the laudable achievements of Maikalangu and his administration and would support his victory at the polls.

Spokesman for the church leaders, Rev Harvest Ighew told Maikalangu campaign train that they are ready to support him to win the February 21 Council elections.

The church leaders recalled the rehabilitation of Kpeyegyi Access Road. Construction of Damagaza Access Road, Construction /Rehabilitation of Nyanya Angwan Dadi Access Road and the upward review on the Rehabilitation of Gbagalape Access Road; Rehabilitation of Kpeyegyi phase ii (Asphalt & Extension Access Road).

They also made reference to the

Construction of Solar Power Borehole at Jikwoyi and Construction of Comprehensive Motorized Borehole at Nyanya Area C.

They said with the construction of Comprehensive Motorized Borehole at Karshi Angwan Gwari; Installation of Transformers at Nyanya Community, there was need to support him so that he can do more for the communities.

The spokesperson for the group said it also learnt of the distribution of Fertilizers and other Agricultural Inputs and provision of Motorcycles for Agriculture Extension workers

Maikalangu however assured them that besides all these achievements, he would do more, saying, “We provided interventions by holding periodic health care outreaches held in various communities – Kurudu, Garki, and other ward in AMAC

“We provided free drugs, counseling, medical tests and diagnosis to thousands of patients in those communities;

“We have intervened in the areas of Malarial campaign where we supplied and distributed free mosquito -treated nets to pregnant women and families in Garki and Lugbe and Pyakassa Communities, Kabusa ward.

According to the him, “Apart from persons whom we have facilitated their employment into various Ministries, Departments and Agencies at the federal level, it is the desire of this Council to generate employment for hundreds and thousands of unemployed youths in Abuja Municipal Area Council through various intervention Programmes.”

According to him, One of the blueprints leading to achieving is the establishment of the AMAC Broadcasting Service Limited, the first commercial radio and television broadcast corporation established by a local government Council in the history of Nigeria.
