Prof. Geidam Takesover as FUGA’s 4th Vice-Chancellor

The Federal University Gashua (FUGA) on Monday ushered in a new era of leadership as Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam officially assumed office as the institution’s 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The handover ceremony, which took place at the 1000-capacity Lecture Hall, witnessed a seamless transition of power attended by principal officers, university management, deans, directors, heads of departments, staff, students, and other dignitaries.

According to Adamu Saleh, Head of Information and Public Relations, Federal University Gashua, said the outgoing Vice-Chancellor Prof. Maimuna Waziri expressed gratitude to the university community for their support throughout her tenure.

She highlighted key milestones achieved under her leadership and urged staff and students to extend the same cooperation to her successor to ensure continued progress.

Professor Waziri formally handed over the instruments of the office to Professor Geidam, symbolising the completion of her tenure and the commencement of new leadership.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Geidam thanked the Governing Council and the entire university community for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor, with priority focus on academic excellence, infrastructural development, staff welfare, research advancement, and overall institutional growth.

“I call on all stakeholders to work collectively in unity and dedication to move this university to greater heights,” he said.

The event marked a defining chapter in FUGA’s history, underscoring the institution’s commitment to continuity, stability, and progressive governance. It concluded with goodwill messages from management members and a renewed pledge of support for the new administration.
