Ahead of the February 21 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it has done so well to deserve a clean sweep of all the six chairmanship seats as well as the position of councilors.
Inaugurating the 138-member APC National Campaign Council for the election, National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda said the ruling party has done well in all spheres of administration which has encouraged members of the opposition parties to decamp to their fold.
Yilwatda said the party will use all strategic means to mobilize for the party. He added that the committee members which has 25 governors would be divided into six groups with each sub-committee in charge of each local government.
“The governors were chosen from each zone so as to ensure they mobilize the residents from their zones to win the party. The party opens space and opportunity to members which has resulted in the influx of people from other parties.
“If we strategize properly and work towards it, the FCT is ours to win. We want to win all the six Areas Councils, we will move from house to house to ensure that we win the election”.
The APC boss further boasted that the party has everything going for it because most of those who were in the opposition in the last election have now joined them, adding that it will be easier to win convincingly.
“The party lost the FCT in the last election but I am happy that today most of the stakeholders who were in the opposition then have returned to the party”.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Campaign Council and governor of Kwara state, Abdulrhaman Abdulrazaq assured that they will fully mobilize residents of Abuja to vote for the APC.
Abdulrazaq eulogized President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in reshaping the country including enhancing the security of lives and property.
“We are going to do our best to convince the people to vote for our party, we will ensure victory because the APC is not just a party of today, but a party that will shape the country in the coming future.
“I want to assure you that the members of this Committee will move from house to house to mobilize the residents to vote for the APC”.
The six Area Councils in Abuja include: Abuja Area Municipal Council (AMAC), Kuje, Gwagwalada, Bwari, Kwali and Abaji.
