Troops Destroy IPOB/ESN Terrorists Supreme Headquarters In Anambra

Troops of the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA (OPUK), comprising the Army, Police and Civil Defence personnel, on Thursday dislodged IPOB/ESN elements from their Supreme Headquarters located in Mother Valley, Nkwere, Anambra State.

The foot assault into the notorious Mother Valley took over three hours through difficult and restricted terrain, a statement issued on Friday by the OPUK said, adding that the troops demonstrated exceptional courage, discipline, and professionalism in penetrating and dominating the valley despite fierce resistance from the terrorists.

According to the statement, the criminals employed locally made hand-held IEDs and heavy gunfire in a desperate attempt to halt the advance.

“Undeterred, troops decisively overwhelmed the hostile elements, neutralizing one IPOB member while several others fled with gunshot wounds, effectively shattering their defensive positions and operational cohesion.

“A significant cache of weapons and logistics was recovered, including two pump-action guns, one locally fabricated gun, one tear gas gun, seven gas cylinders, an electric kettle, and flags linked to extremist propaganda.

“Troops also destroyed all life-support structures at the terrorists’ Supreme Headquarters in the valley, including solar panels and a Mikano generator, dealing a critical blow to their operational sustainability,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, two suspected IPOB members have been arrested separately and are currently being profiled as investigation continues.

One of the suspects was apprehended while attempting to emplace an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, and the other was identified as a spy, monitoring troop movement.

Additionally, one KIA saloon car and one black Toyota Sequoia jeep were recovered from a terrorist car park within the valley.

The OPUK assured that the troops have matched on with the aggressive clearance operations to deny criminals freedom of action.

It warned that there will be no hiding place, sanctuary or escape route for criminal elements in the region.

“The Nigerian Army remains resolute, relentless and fully committed to dismantling all terrorist networks across the South East and the entire nation.
