The Organizing Committee of the forthcoming International World Youth Day for Unemployed Youths of Nigeria has announced the creation of a new and controversial category titled the “Award of Dishonour.”
According to the organizers, the category was introduced to emphasize what they described as “avoidable moral failings in public duty.”
In a statement released to the press, the Coordinator, Comrade Danesi Momoh Prince indicated that Senator Olajide Ipinsagba of Ondo North has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the award.
The organizers cited what they described “as several verified allegations, including concerns about staff remuneration, the alleged monetization of legislative oversight, professional fees owed to a legal practitioner, and growing dissatisfaction among constituents over what they characterize as poor representation and inadequate empowerment initiatives”.
The statement further noted that, “the award is intended as a symbolic expression of youth-led civic engagement and accountability, emphasizing that the initiative reflects concerns voiced within sections of the public sphere”.
Baring any last minute changes in the character disposition of Senator Oladije, the award is scheduled to be presented on March 10, 2026, at 7:00 AM (WAT) at the entrance of the National Assembly of Nigeria in Abuja and will serve as a pre-event activity for the International Youth Day.
The youth insisted that “they will do everything within their legal powers to compel Senator Oladije Ipinsagba to be present in person to accept the award, warning that representatives or proxies will not be permitted. Failure to comply will amount to the commencement of a recall process immediately.
The youth concluded that proceedings at the National Assembly premises “will not commence until the award has been personally received in the presence of all Senators to serve as a deterrent to others”.
