Yobe: NGO clears five months stipends for 167 volunteer teachers

In an effort to boost basic education in Yobe State, the Madakin Gudi Foundation has cleared five months’ outstanding stipends for 167 volunteer teachers across 21 schools in Fika Local Government Area.
The payments, covering the period from November 2025 to March 2026, were disbursed to volunteers in five wards, including Chana, Godowoli, and Gadaka.
A verification and payment team from the Foundation visited each of the 21 schools on Wednesday.
According to the team leader, Malam Muhammad Lamba, each of the three volunteers per school received the sum of N100,000, representing their monthly stipends for the five-month period.
Malam Lamba explained that the gesture was part of the Foundation’s broader mission to support education in rural communities.
“This is aimed at encouraging our volunteers to remain dedicated to the development of education in the area,” he said.
In his part, Alhaji Haruna Godowoli, praised the initiative, describing it as a vital education revitalization drive that complements government efforts.
He advised the beneficiaries to view the stipend as a reward for their commitment and called on other philanthropists to emulate the founder of the Foundation, Alhaji Muhammad Gadaka.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation, including Muhammad Musa of Godowoli Primary School, Abdul-Salam Idriss of Zayyi Primary School, and Inusa Isiya of Gidim Primary School, commended the founder for the timely intervention.
The Foundation also distributed relief materials to community leaders, each of the district heads in the benefiting communities received a 50kg bag of sugar and a carton of spaghetti for onward distribution to principals and Imams in the area.
