Kano state government yesterday said it has put everything necessary in place in the state to fight Ebola virus, in the event the state records any case of the dreaded disease.
The state deputy governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who dropped the hint during an interactive session with journalists in his office yesterday, said although Kano has not recorded any case of Ebola disease, the state government is fully prepared in case the virus finds its way into the state.
“Although we don’t pray that Kano state records any case of Ebola, but we want to assure our citizens that as responsible government, we have put both human and material resources together to fight the virus”, he assured.
In the same vein he said so far Kano state has recorded only four cases of the disease across the state this year.
Dr. Ganduje, who is the chairman of the Polio Immunization Exercise in Kano State, stated that, contrary to the federal government’s monthly polio immunization exercise, the state government, after signing an agreement with Dangote/Billgate foundation, has introduced and strengthened the routine immunization exercise, which is conducted daily at hospitals.
