Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has become a unifying figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), using the party’s North-West Zonal Congress in Kaduna to defend President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda and boost the party’s political standing in the region.
The Governor personally greeted Governors Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, who recently joined the party, demonstrating generosity and political foresight.
“We receive you with open arms, in a spirit of unity, mutual respect, and shared destiny,” he said.
The congress served as a platform for Sani to reaffirm the APC’s commitment to democracy, stating, “This Zonal Congress stands as a powerful affirmation of the APC’s identity as a truly democratic and grassroots-driven political party.”
He also used the occasion to defend Tinubu’s administration, praising the president’s leadership as characterized by “courage, clarity of vision, and an unyielding commitment to repositioning Nigeria for sustainable progress.”
Sani highlighted achievements in agriculture, energy, and economic reform, mentioning efforts to increase farm productivity and reforms in the oil and gas sector to improve efficiency.
The governor also stressed social programs like the student loan scheme, noting it has “opened new doors of opportunity for our young people, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of educational advancement.”
Sani urged delegates to move beyond divisions and act responsibly, emphasizing that the congress was about more than just choosing leaders.
“This Congress is not only about leadership selection; it is about strengthening our unity, deepening our structures, and aligning our strategies for the future,” he said.
The event was attended by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril, governors from seven North West states, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, ministers, and top regional government officials.
