The former Kano State Deputy Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna,, is expected to officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) today as he receives his membership card in Gawuna Ward, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The move comes just a day after Gawuna resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also stepped down yesterday as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, showing a big change in his political and public service path ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Gawuna is expected to be received into the ADC personally by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and there are strong rumors that he is being positioned as Kwankwaso’s anointed gubernatorial candidate for 2027.
He is likely to face Abba Kabir Yusuf, the current Governor of Kano State, who was Kwankwaso’s anointed gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 Kano governorship election under the NNPP, but recently left the party for the APC.
Gawuna’s entry into ADC is expected to strengthen the party in the state, with supporters already preparing to follow his lead and take part in grassroots mobilization.
