The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, has conducted an assessment tour of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) to evaluate its security architecture and strengthen measures against criminal activities within the institution and surrounding communities.

The visit, which took place on Friday evening, forms part of ongoing efforts by the Zamfara Police Command to enhance security across critical public institutions in the state.

During the tour, the Commissioner inspected key areas of the university, including male and female hostels, where he interacted with students and reassured them of the command’s commitment to their safety through proactive policing strategies.

He urged students to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals to security agencies, assuring them that the police would sustain a visible presence on campus to protect their constitutional right to a safe learning environment.

“The Zamfara Police Command under my watch, in collaboration with the university management, will ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning. Your lives, property, and integrity will be safeguarded,” Bello said.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Tukur Adamu, who led the Commissioner and his team on the tour of strategic locations, including the campus perimeter fencing and adjoining areas, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
