The Sokoto State Commissioner of Finance, Engr. Muhammad Jabi Shagari, has called on residents of the state to support the re-election bid of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Shagari made the appeal while speaking with journalists in Sokoto on Tuesday, urging voters to back the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels, with particular emphasis on the governor’s second-term ambition.
According to him, re-electing Governor Aliyu would ensure the consolidation of ongoing infrastructural development and sustain the administration’s policy direction across the state.
“The people of the state should massively vote for APC at all levels, particularly Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto. His re-election will guarantee continuity of the ongoing developmental strides in Sokoto State,” he said.
The commissioner, a former chairman of Shagari Local Government Area and retired Permanent Secretary, commended the governor’s performance since assuming office on May 29, 2023, noting that he has exceeded public expectations.
He described the governor as “amiable, focused and result-oriented,” adding that his administration has made significant impact across various sectors of the state’s economy.
Shagari attributed the governor’s achievements to his political background and mentorship under former Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
He maintained that the people of Sokoto State should entrust their mandate to Governor Aliyu again in 2027, stressing that the APC remains the dominant political force in the state.
“The opposition is no longer a factor in Sokoto State. APC remains strong and united, and we must ensure total victory in the next general elections,” he added.
Shagari further urged party members and supporters to commit their time, resources and energy towards securing victory for the governor and other APC candidates, noting that such efforts would enhance socio-economic development and take the state to greater heights.
