The Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA) has distributed solar-powered pumping machines to selected farmers at the Zauro Polder Irrigation Project in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, as part of efforts to enhance agricultural productivity.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the Authority, Amiru Adamu, and made available to journalists in Sokoto on Tuesday.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Managing Director of SRRBDA, Alhaji Abubakar Malam (Shettiman Gwandu), represented by the Project Manager, Engr. Mariya Suleiman, said the initiative is aimed at supporting farmers to achieve maximum yields in line with the agricultural objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He urged beneficiaries to make effective and judicious use of the solar-powered pumping machines, noting that the intervention is part of a broader programme designed to support more farmers across the state.

The Managing Director also commended the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for his continued support to farmers and the development of the agricultural sector.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Farmers’ Association, Alhaji Shehu Dan Nagwari, expressed appreciation to the SRRBDA management for the gesture and assured that beneficiaries would utilize the equipment responsibly to improve their farming activities.
