Breaking: Kaduna Group Blasts ADC Faction Over ‘Kangaroo’ Press Conference, Carpets Maina

Date:

The Kaduna Integrity Group (KIG) has fired back at a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, dismissing its recent press conference as “a desperate exercise in political theatrics” and “a gathering of a fractured house speaking with no authority.”

In a strongly worded statement signed by Comrade Abdulrazaq Musa and Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, the group said the press outing, reportedly led by Prof. Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), lacked coherence, credibility, and legitimacy—describing it as the product of “a party in disarray” and Prof Maina as political orphan grasping for relevance.

“Which ADC is speaking?” KIG asked pointedly. “A party divided into factions, with parallel secretariats across Kaduna, cannot suddenly present itself as the moral voice of democracy.”

The group said it was ridiculous that the faction chose a press conference rather than internal reconciliation, adding that the development reflects “a political structure already in open collapse.”

Turning to the criticisms levelled against the Kaduna State House of Assembly over its damning report on Elrufai , KIG described them as “constitutionally ignorant and politically selective.”
It maintained that the legislature acted squarely within its oversight powers, stressing that the same constitutional provisions were freely exercised during the tenure of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and “Maina and his co-travellers” should stop pretending.

“What was lawful yesterday cannot become unlawful today simply because the political winds have shifted,” the group said, adding that any attempt to rebrand legitimate legislative oversight as persecution amounts to “nothing more than political mischief.”

KIG also rejected the use of a stage-manged prrss conference to smear anti-corruption agencies such as the EFCC, ICPC, and DSS by dragging them into what it called a “manufactured grievance.”

“These institutions( ICPC and EFCC) are established by law to act on credible evidence—not to be weaponised by politicians seeking sympathy,” the statement added, insisting that any genuine concern should be pursued through the courts rather than “media conference.”

On issues of KASUPDA and urban development enforcement, the group said the ADC’s claims were “not only exaggerated but demonstrably false,” arguing that Governor Uba Sani’s administration has adopted a more restrained and restitution-driven approach, by returning illegally seized property back to their legitimate owners and paying huge compensation in other areas .

It contrasted the current administration’s policies with previous practices, alleging that earlier governments carried out “ruthless demolitions” that affected high-profile individuals, including Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and the late Senator Inuwa Abdulkadir.

“Today, the approach is different—more humane, more balanced, and more responsive to the rights of citizens,” KIG stated, adding that affected persons are now being compensated or given redress in many cases.

The group said the current administration has shown “discipline, restraint, and a deliberate commitment to correcting past excesses,” rather than perpetuating them.

The group concluded that the ADC faction’s outing was “less about democracy and more about desperation,” accusing it of attempting to play the game of victims in the absence of political relevance.

“If the Kaduna ADC is serious about being taken seriously, it must first fix its internal crisis,” the group said. “Until then, these press conferences remain nothing more than noise—loud, emotional, and politically empty.”
