The Presidency has dismissed claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is behind the leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Communication, Sunday Dare, said the crisis within the ADC was self-inflicted and not caused by the ruling party.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, monitored in Abuja, Dare also dismissed suggestions that there were plans to eliminate opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
He maintained that the federal government remains committed to protecting democratic rights, including freedom of expression and political participation.
Dare argued that building a viable political party requires time, sacrifice and strong internal structures, noting that the APC itself went through a rigorous process before emerging as a dominant platform.
According to him, opposition leaders should focus on strengthening their parties rather than blaming external forces for internal challenges.
He added that it is not the responsibility of the President or the government to organise or stabilise opposition parties, insisting that the ADC’s leadership crisis stems from its own internal shortcomings.
