The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed an attack on the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Camp at Nuku Village, via Kaiama, during the early hours of Friday.

The confirmation was in a press statement issued on Friday and signed by SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the ‎Police Public Relations Officer.

‎The statement explained that about 03:45hrs, bandits launched a coordinated attack on the PMF Camp.

It announced that five members of the National Forest Guard were fatally shot by the armed bandits while an extensive damage was done to a patrol vehicle belonging to police operatives, before the PMF personnel in the camp repelled the bandits.

‎The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi expressed deep sympathy to the families of the deceased and condemned the attack in strongest terms.

According to the statement, the Command assures residents that tactical and intelligence-driven operations have commenced to track down the perpetrators.

It says further that continuous monitoring of the situation is ongoing to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further security breaches.

‎Members of the public are urged to cooperate with security agencies by providing any useful information that could aid the investigation.
