Factional acting president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mike Umeh has accused the General Secretary of the federation, Musa Amadu of being culpable in the fire that gutted the NFF building.

Umeh said it was unbelievable that the incident happen in the morning during working hours, stating that it smacks of sabotage.

“It is unbelievable that this kind of fire could happen during working hours, because the General Secretary was there when it started from his office and he was just watching,” Umeh claimed.

The Anambra State football association football association chairman also alluded that the fire could be arson, in a bid to destroy documents that could indict the Aminu Maigari board of corruption.

“This is an act of sabotage and it shows the level of corruption in the Nigeria football federation. All important documents that can prove the corruption have been destroyed and you ask yourself how this could happen at such a time.

“It is unbelievable that this could happen, from the office of the General Secretary to the accounts office. It shows that there’s a lot of corruption here.

“And I can tell you that they are trying to buy time with this but if they like, they can burn the whole Abuja. Nothing will stop the elections from holding on the 26th. Nobody can perpetuate themselves in office and it was obvious in the meeting they held on Tuesday,” he added.

Meanwhile, General Secretary, Musa Amadu has denied the allegations, saying he has no idea how the inferno started.

“It is unfortunate what has happened to our office today and very sad to see. I have no idea how it started but we are grateful no lives were lost in this incident,” Amadu posited.

The Mike Umeh-led faction meanwhile, have released a statement that Aminu Maigari stands impeached, and the duo of Christopher Green and Yusuf Fresh stand suspended.
