INEC pledges cooperation with Action Alliance, others for credible polls

A delegation from the Election and Party Monitoring (EPM) Department of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) visited the National Headquarters of the Action Alliance (AA) in Abuja on Tuesday for a familiarization and monitoring tour.
​In a statement made available to the media in Kaduna on Wednesday, the 10-member delegation, led by Deputy Director Masaud Hassan, was received by the National Chairman of the Action Alliance, Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
​Addressing the party leadership, Hassan explained that the visit was part of INEC’s statutory mandate to monitor party conventions, primaries, and campaign finances.
He described the exercise as a routine engagement aimed at enhancing compliance and fostering mutual understanding ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
​Hassan assured the Action Alliance of INEC’s full cooperation, emphasizing that under the leadership of Prof. Jose Amupitan, the commission is committed to conducting free, fair, and credible elections nationwide. He added that the EPM department remains dedicated to ensuring that all political activities strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
In his response, the AA National Chairman, Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, described the visit as timely and essential for strengthening institutional collaboration between the commission and political parties.
​Omoaje highlighted the critical role of the EPM department in organizing the Election Monitoring and Support Center (EMSC) and ensuring administrative compliance.
He assured the delegation of the party’s total support in fulfilling its duties.
​“The Action Alliance remains committed to due process, internal democracy, and full adherence to INEC guidelines on party administration, primaries, and campaign finance reporting,” Omoaje stated.
He further noted that the party would continue to engage constructively with the commission to promote transparency and accountability in the Nigerian political space.
​The visit concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and building public trust in the nation’s democracy.
