…as party backs youth inclusion push

A new dimension has been added to the race for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, as Yerima Shettima formally declared his ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr Shettima, convener of the Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative, made his declaration at the party secretariat in Kaduna, positioning himself as a candidate focused on “quality and responsible representation” rather than rhetoric.
He assured party members of his readiness to deliver if elected, stressing that the APC stands a better chance in the polls by fielding credible candidates.
The declaration was warmly received by the Kaduna State chapter of the party, with its secretary, Abubakar Rabiu Abubakar, describing Shettima as a committed party man and a promoter of youth inclusiveness.
According to him, Shettima’s entry into the race aligns with the broader vision of Governor Uba Sani to create equal opportunities within the party and encourage broader participation.
Shettima, in his remarks, also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sani for what he described as ongoing efforts to reposition both Nigeria and Kaduna State.
Party officials say his declaration signals growing internal mobilisation within the APC as the contest for key legislative seats begins to take shape ahead of 2027.
