Police Debunk Viral Claim of Arson Attack on ADC Chieftain’s Gombe Residence

Date:

The Gombe State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral social media report alleging that the residence of factional African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairman, Nafiu Bala, was set ablaze by an angry mob.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, clarified that no such incident had been recorded anywhere in the state.
The misleading claim, which circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter), suggested that Bala’s country home had been attacked and burned.
However, police authorities described the report as “false and misleading,” urging the public to disregard it.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, reassured residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Gombe State, calling for calm and vigilance against the spread of misinformation.
The police further emphasised the need for responsible use of social media to avoid unnecessary panic and tension.
