• Pegs presidential forms for N50m

The Labour Party has released its timetable for activities leading to its primary elections for the 2027 general elections.
The party will conduct the House of Assembly and Governorship primaries on 27th May 2026, while the National Assembly and Presidential are billed to take place on 29th May, 2026.
In a statement at my the weekend, National Publicity Secretary (NPS) of the party, Ken Asoqwa said the action is in line with the Constitution of Nigeria as well as the Electoral Act 2026, as amended.
Under the schedule, sale of Nomination Forms: Sale of nomination forms for all elective offices shall commence on Wednesday, 6th May, 2026 and end on Monday, 16th May, 2026
Similarly, submission of completed forms will begins on Tuesday, 17th May and ends on Wednesday, 18th May, 2026.
Also for the screening of aspirants, the House of Assembly and Governorship is slated for 20th May, 2026, while the National Assembly and Presidential will take 22nd May, 2026.
Also publication of screening results is on 23rd May 2026.
For the Appeals/Petitions: House of Assembly and Governorship – 24th May, 2026 and National Assembly and Presidential – 25th May, 2026.
According to the statement, aspirants for the Presidential election will pay the sum of N10m for the Expression of Interest while the Nomination Form attracts N40m.
For the Gubernatorial election, the Expression of Interest Form goes for N5m, while the Nomination Form: costs N20m.
For the Senate, the Expression of Interest Form is pegged at N2.5m, and the Nomination Form at N7.5m.
Expression of Interest Form for the House of Representatives goes for N1.5m while the Nomination Form attarcts N3.5m.
In the House of Assembly, aspirants will have to part with the sum of N1m for the Expression of Interest Form and another N2m for the Nomination Form.
The party added that in ine with its motto of equal opportunities and social justice, Female aspirants, People Living with Disabilities and Youth (25-30 years) aspirants shall only be required to pay for the Expression of Interest Forms for all categories of positions.
Also party members yet to register with the ongoing e-registration membership registration are encouraged to do so before midnight of Monday, May 4.
