Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has pledged to expand urban renewal and infrastructure development projects across the state as he formally submitted his nomination form to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Yusuf, who is the sole APC aspirant for the Kano governorship race, said his administration would intensify efforts in road construction, drainage expansion, and market modernization if reelected.
Speaking with journalists shortly after submitting the form late Thursday, the governor described his bid for a second term as a renewed commitment to accelerate development and improve living conditions across Kano State.
According to him, urban renewal will remain one of the top priorities of his administration, with plans to expand ongoing projects and introduce new infrastructure initiatives in major towns and communities.
“My administration will expand urban renewal projects across the state. Road construction, drainage expansion, and market modernization will receive greater attention,” he said.
The governor explained that the development drive would not be limited to urban centres alone, noting that rural communities would also benefit from improved infrastructure and social services.
“There will be more investments in feeder roads, water supply, healthcare centres, and schools in rural communities,” he added.
Yusuf also promised stronger support for agriculture and empowerment programmes for farmers and youths, stressing that job creation and youth development would remain central to his administration’s agenda.
He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, peace, and unity, while pledging to continue working with stakeholders to move Kano State forward.
The governor further aligned his development plans with the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the partnership would help attract more federal projects and economic opportunities to the state.
He thanked the people of Kano for their continued support and confidence in his leadership, assuring them of transparent governance and people-oriented policies.
Governor Yusuf was accompanied to the venue by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other dignitaries from Kano State.
