Thirty four out of forty members of the Kano state House Assembly yesterday urged Kano state governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso to vie for the office of the presidency in 2015.

Speaking on behalf of the thirty four members who are all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), deputy majority Leader, Yusuf Babangida Suleiman said the call became necessary because of the bad state of the nation.

“Security of the state and its citizenry, which is the first obligation that the law of the land shoulders upon leadership is deteriorating at all levels due to its demise at the centre.

“Corruption that is becoming a tool in scooping national treasury, lack of efficient hands to handle the conditions, and poverty that is sustained just to subject us to further hardships remain our fundamental shortcomings in the country.”

He stated that it was their belief that resetting Nigeria to restore its former position as a united state with diverse entities loving one another requires a democrat, a man of time, who could face the multi-faceted challenges facing the nations.

“It is on this note that we the lawmakers in Kano state, 34 of us precisely, hereby urge our leader and our mentor, Engineer Dr Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We hereby declare the aspiration on his behalf on this Thursday, 28th of August 2014, and public shall bear witness.”

All the 34 members believed that Kwankwaso was the type who sleeps with eyes open due to “the mess the nation is in.”

Kano Assembly lamented that the whole of the nation is a sinking ship which requires capable minds to rescue the entire citizenry.
