BREAKING: Boko Haram abducts students in Borno
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have abducted an unspecified number of students in Borno State on Friday.
Local sources said the insurgents stormed a primary and junior secondary school in Mussa village, located in Askira/Uba Local Government Area, during school hours and took away several students.
A teacher at the school confirmed the incident, saying the attackers arrived on motorcycles and were armed with sophisticated weapons.
A source who requested anonymity said the exact number of missing pupils is yet to be determined.
“I cannot tell you the specific number of students missing at the moment, but many students were taken while some escaped through the bushes,” the source said.
Residents also said the same group of insurgents had at about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday attacked Gazarma community in Chibok Local Government Area, killing civilians and destroying properties worth millions of naira.
There has been no official statement on the two incidents as of the time of filing this report.
