Bandits kill 10 in Katsina community

Bandits, on Sunday, killed ten residents of Gidan Wawu and Gidan Sarkin Noma in Guga ward of Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State.

The bodies of the victims, including a pregnant woman, were taken to Guga Primary Health Centre after the incident, and subsequently buried this morning.

A resident who preferred anonymity told the Peoples Daily that attacks on communities around Guga have intensified in the last two weeks, with five people killed before Sunday’s attack.

The source said, “Yesterday was Guga market day, and many communities had converged to sell and buy in preparation for the forthcoming Sallah, including many people from Gidan Wawu and Gidan Sarkin Noma, a twin and inseparable agrarian peace-loving settlements.

“At the same moment, the bandits struck in their usual ferocious and ruthless manner, leaving ten dead, houses burnt down, properties destroyed, cattle rustled, animals stolen, and the settlements disorganized and traumatized.

“The two settlements are in Guga Ward, Bakori LGA, Katsina State and had been suffering from bandit’s attacks for the past one year which intensifies in the past two weeks where five innocent people have killed.”
