A former Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has thrown his weight behind the governorship aspiration of former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in the state.
Al-Makura declared his support on Sunday during the grand finale of the ex-IGP’s consultative visits to traditional rulers across the state, held at the Emir’s Palace in Lafia.
The former Governor said Adamu stood out among other aspirants because of his leadership qualities and capacity to govern the state effectively.
According to him, the final visit to the Lafia Emirate was symbolic because Adamu is an indigene of the local government area and needed to return home to seek blessings from the traditional institution after consultations across the state.
Al-Makura explained that the palace visit was beyond a mere courtesy call, describing it as a homecoming for the former police chief to brief the Emir on the outcome of his consultations with traditional rulers and stakeholders ahead of the APC governorship primaries scheduled to hold in the coming days.
He added that the gathering also provided an opportunity for the aspirant to seek royal guidance, support and blessings from the Emir and the people of the area as preparations intensify for the party’s primary election.
