
Katsina Speaker Emerges APC Senatorial Candidate in Daura Zone
The Speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahya, has been elected as the All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate for Daura zone, comprising 12 local government areas.
The results of the primary election conducted in the area indicated that Nasir secured 78,395 votes to defeat his rival, Ahmed Kabir Abdullahi, who polled 2,274 votes.
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Monday joined other party stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress to witness the presentation of Nasir as the official candidate of the party.
The primary election was conducted across the senatorial district in a peaceful, transparent, and orderly atmosphere, with high level of participation of party stakeholders, delegates, and members across all 12 local government areas of the zone.
The results were officially announced at the collation centre in Daura by the Chairman of the APC Primary Elections Committee from the party’s national headquarters, Dr. Yakubu Machido.
Earlier, the Returning Officer, Alhaji Shafiu Duwan, commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise across all wards, describing the process as transparent, credible, and well-organized.
