Former All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for Kogi East, Mahmoud Bala Alfa, has called for calm and unity following the conclusion of the party’s senatorial primary election in the district.

In a statement released after the exercise, Alfa acknowledged that the outcome of the primary naturally generated emotions and reactions among party members and supporters.

He said such reactions were expected in any democratic process in which people invest their hopes and energy in political contests.

According to him, the moment required maturity, reflection and responsible leadership from all stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alfa stressed that the party remained one political family and urged members to address grievances through dialogue and internal engagement rather than actions that could create division.

“This is not about defending or attacking anybody’s actions during the process. It is simply a moment for honest reflection from all sides,” he stated.

He argued that many of the frustrations currently being expressed could have been avoided if political processes in Kogi East had consistently been properly managed over the years.

The former aspirant urged party faithful to embrace wisdom, unity, and constructive dialogue rather than anger and confrontation.

Alfa also referenced President Bola Tinubu’s position, encouraging consensus arrangements where possible and direct primaries where consensus could not be achieved.

According to him, the approach was designed to preserve party unity and stability.
He called on aggrieved members to channel their concerns through the party leadership in Kogi State rather than deepen divisions within the region.

Alfa thanked all aspirants and supporters who participated in the primary, describing the process as politically engaging and evidence of the people’s interest in the future of Kogi East.

He assured his supporters that his political journey would continue and pledged continued commitment to the district’s development.

The APC chieftain also commended Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former governor Yahaya Bello for their leadership and contributions to the party’s stability in the state.

He concluded by urging party members to prioritise peace, unity and responsible leadership ahead of future political engagements.
