The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare and support of families of fallen military personnel.

Musa gave the assurance while receiving Mr Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brig.-Gen. Oseni Braimah, at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Babatunde.

The late Brig.-Gen. Braimah, an infantry officer of the Nigerian Army, died in active service at Benisheikh on April 9 while serving as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade.

He was buried with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15 alongside seven other military personnel who also lost their lives in the line of duty.

During the visit, Hassan Braimah described his late brother as a committed and dedicated officer who remained steadfast in national service until his death.

He expressed pride in the sacrifice made by the late general and pledged the family’s continued support for those he left behind.

Responding, Musa conveyed the condolences of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family.
He assured that the ministry would continue to support families of fallen heroes and maintain open communication with them.

“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country,” the minister said.
