The campaign council of Kaduna Central senatorial aspirant Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) primary election for the district, alleging widespread irregularities and lack of transparency in the exercise.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna on Tuesday, Cafra Caino, Deputy Director General of the Zailani Campaign Council, said the announced result did not reflect the true wishes of APC members across Kaduna Central.
He called on the APC National Working Committee, the party’s Kaduna State Electoral Committee, and other relevant organs to urgently investigate the conduct of the primary and provide what he described as necessary redress in line with democratic principles and party guidelines.
According to Caino, the exercise failed to meet standards set by the APC leadership, insisting that the process lacked transparency and credibility.
He further argued that the primary, which should have strengthened internal democracy and party unity, instead raised concerns over procedural violations and the integrity of the exercise.
The campaign council also urged supporters of Zailani and APC members in the zone to remain peaceful, assuring them that the matter would be pursued through constitutional and internal party mechanisms.
