The Plateau State Government has denied allegations that Governor Caleb Mutfwang imposed aspirants during the recent senatorial primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the government said reports accusing Mutfwang of influencing the emergence of candidates were “lies from the pit of hell” and should be disregarded by the public.
Bere maintained that the governor has consistently upheld democratic principles and has never forced candidates on the people, both during his time in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) and in public office.
According to the statement, Mutfwang remains committed to free, fair, and credible elections, stressing that peace, unity, and stability in Plateau State remain top priorities of his administration.
The government further urged party faithful and residents of the state not to be distracted by what it called fabricated reports aimed at creating tension within the political space.
Bere added that the governor had repeatedly advised political actors and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process and respect democratic procedures.
