The critical stakeholders of Yobe State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have unanimously endorsed Atiku Abubakar for the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.
The support is coming days to the party’s presidential primary scheduled for May 25 and 26, 2026.
In a statement issued on behalf of the party leadership by the State Chairman, Alhaji Umar Kalli, the stakeholders said the decision was reached after a careful assessment of all presidential aspirants.
He added that the endorsement followed series of statewide consultations conducted by party stakeholders in preparation for the primary election.
According to him, the stakeholders considered the aspirants’ individual capacities, national acceptability, and ability to effectively challenge the candidate of the ruling party in the 2027 general election.
The Chairman highlighted that the aspiration of Atiku Abubakar was unanimously endorsed based on his “proven track record of public service, national political spread, competence, and leadership experience.”
He said the former vice president had demonstrated unwavering commitment to national development through decades of service in both the public and private sectors, with a record of competence and integrity.
Kalli stated that Atiku’s widespread acceptance across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones makes him “the most unifying and electable candidate at this critical time.”
The statement also highlighted Atiku’s experience in governance and economic management, describing him as a leader capable of addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic and security challenges.
The Yobe ADC chapter called on party members across the country to unite behind the former vice president, stressing that the party’s mission is to provide credible leadership capable of confronting the challenges facing the nation.
“An attested and competent candidate in the person of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar is the solution,” the statement added.
