Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Senator Philip Aduda has donated over seventy Motorcycles, twenty-five cars and a bus to people, as part of his annual empowerment scheme in four area council of Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Distributing the Items for beneficiaries in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), at the weekend, Aduda, urged them to make good use of the items, especially the vehicles.
Also, the Senator advised the beneficiaries to ensure that they imbibe standard safety and maintenance that will make the vehicles and motorcycles better serve their purposes.
According to him, “This empowerment for this year became necessary, so that people that were unable to get something to do before now can have a source of livelihood from this scheme. By so doing, we will affect their work positively.
“As part of my electioneering promises to the people, the empowerment programme is for all people in FCT; both women, youths and men are involved.
“And want you to take care in what is given to you for the benefit of our Party, FCT people and our country at large.”
Peoples Daily reports that the donation, which is the first phase of the empowerment programme, has beneficiaries from AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada and Kuje area councils respectively.
Earlier, the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in AMAC, Hon. Mohammed Mamuda, urge all people in FCT to keep faith with the party as the people representing the Party in elective positions like Senator Aduda are poised to make life meaningful for them.
While at Bwari area council, the Executive chairman of the council, Hon. Peter Yohanna. Ushafa, who was on hand with other stakeholders to receive the vehicles donated for distribution to beneficiaries in the council, charge Bwari residents to be ready to pay back Senator Aduda, with their votes.
According to him, for always identifying with the people, and empowering them, they should show gratitude to him by returning him back to the Senate as many times as he wishes.
This, he said, “would enable our peoples will continue to enjoy more dividends of democracy.”
The council boss also asked people to shun politicians who only come during election time for their votes, and after that they don’t get to see them again.
He therefore expressed his gratitude to senator Aduda, for coming to council to compliment what the leadership of the council under him has been doing to enhance the welfare of the people there.
His words: “Human capital development is our cardinal point in this area council and we will continue with it.”
