Adamawa APC moves to contain fallout from primaries

Concerns over possible internal division within the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have intensified following allegations of candidate imposition and growing dissatisfaction after the party’s primary elections.
Governor on Thursday cautioned party members against engaging in anti-party activities, warning that internal disunity could threaten the APC’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
The governor spoke during a Sallah homage paid to him at the Government House in Yola by members of the APC state executive committee, led by the party chairman, Alhaji Hamza Madagali.
The warning comes amid complaints from some aspirants and party loyalists who believe the recent governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly primaries were manipulated in favour of preferred candidates backed by influential figures within the party.
The discontent, political observers say, has revived memories of the internal crisis and anti-party activities blamed for the APC’s losses in the 2019 and 2023 governorship elections in Adamawa State.
Addressing party members, Fintiri appealed for unity and urged aggrieved stakeholders to place the party’s collective interest above personal ambition.
He maintained that the emergence of candidates during the primaries reflected divine will and expressed confidence that the APC would defeat rival parties in the forthcoming elections.
The governor also assured party supporters that efforts would continue to strengthen political stability and cohesion within the APC ahead of 2027.
According to him, every member of the party must contribute toward ensuring victory for APC candidates rather than working against the party from within.
The APC state chairman, Alhaji Hamza Madagali, who led the delegation, commended the governor for his involvement in the conduct of the party primaries and reiterated the leadership’s commitment to maintaining unity within the party.
The latest development highlights the growing challenge facing political parties across the country as post-primary grievances continue to test internal cohesion ahead of the next election cycle.
