How​ guard allegedly kidnapped employer’s children in Minna

A private security guard has allegedly kidnapped his employer’s two six-year-old sons, Umar and Anas, from their residence in the Brighter area of Minna, Niger State.
​The suspect, identified as Sani Abdulrahman, allegedly vanished with the twin boys on Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2026, while their father, a local businessman named Alhaji Danjuma, was away from home.
According to reports, Abdulrahman, an ethnic Fulani, lured the children away under the guise of taking them out for Eid-el-Kabir (Salah) celebrations. Ironically, he used a motorcycle that Alhaji Danjuma had recently bought for him.
​Panic set in later that afternoon when Alhaji Danjuma returned home to find both his children and the security guard missing. Initially fearing the trio had been involved in a road accident, the frantic family spent hours searching various hospitals across the Minna metropolis.
However, their worst fears were confirmed later that evening when Alhaji Danjuma received a phone call from individuals claiming to be inside the notorious Erena forest in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The callers confirmed they had the children in their custody and demanded a ransom for their release.
A devastated Alhaji Danjuma has appealed to the Niger State Government and security agencies to intervene swiftly to ensure the safe rescue of his sons.
He also called on the general public to join his family in prayers.
When contacted, the Spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred at approximately 1:00 PM on Sunday.
​“The security guard, Sani, pretended he was taking the children into town for the Salah celebration, but they have not returned since,” Abiodun said.
​The PPRO assured the public that the command has commenced a full investigation and that active efforts are underway to locate and safely rescue the children.
