FRSC Marks World Bicycle Day with Awareness Rally in Kaduna

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, on Wednesday commemorated the 2026 World Bicycle Day with a bicycle awareness campaign and rally aimed at promoting road safety, healthy living and environmental sustainability.

The event, held within Kaduna metropolis, was led by the Sector Commander, CC Andrew Longkam, represented by the Sector Head of Operations, DCC Abubakar Magaji.

It attracted FRSC officers and personnel as well as members of the Kaduna State Bicycle Club under the Ministry of Sports.

Speaking at the event, Magaji highlighted the significance of World Bicycle Day, celebrated annually on June 3 to recognise the bicycle as a simple, affordable, reliable and environmentally friendly means of transportation.

He said cycling contributes significantly to healthy living, environmental protection and safer mobility.
According to him, the bicycle remains a viable alternative means of transportation that should be encouraged, especially in urban centres.

The programme featured a bicycle rally along designated routes within Kaduna metropolis to create awareness on safe cycling practices and encourage greater adoption of bicycles for transportation and recreation.

Magaji also sensitised participants and members of the public on the need for mutual respect among all categories of road users.

He stressed the importance of protecting cyclists and other vulnerable road users on the highways to reduce road traffic crashes and improve safety.

The rally recorded impressive participation from members of the Kaduna State Bicycle Club and FRSC personnel.

Many residents along the rally route commended the initiative and expressed interest in cycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of transportation.

Participants maintained good riding discipline and complied with traffic regulations throughout the exercise.

The FRSC said the event successfully achieved its objectives of promoting cycling, healthy living, environmental sustainability and road safety awareness.

The programme ended peacefully with appreciation extended to all participants for their support and commitment toward safer roads and sustainable transportation in Kaduna State.
