Agada-led APC Executive reinstated in Benue

The Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi has restored the Augustine Agada-led executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, dismissing the appeal filed by the party over its earlier dissolution.

The appellate court, in Appeal No. CA/MKD/119/2024, struck out the APC’s challenge and upheld the judgment of the Makurdi High Court which had nullified the dissolution of the state executive committee.

The lower court, presided over by Justice T.A. Kume, had earlier declared the action of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) dissolving the Agada-led leadership as unlawful, null and void.

Delivering the lead judgment, the Court of Appeal resolved all issues raised in the appeal against the APC, affirming that the party’s decision lacked legal backing and could not stand.

The court further maintained that all actions taken by the Benjamin Omale-led caretaker committee were invalid, describing them as “null and void and of no effect whatsoever.”

Omale, listed as a respondent in the case, aligned with the APC’s position but failed to file any separate process before the appellate court.

Reacting to the verdict, Agada expressed confidence in the judiciary, urging party members in Benue to remain calm and united in the aftermath of the ruling.

The judgment effectively reaffirms the Agada-led executive as the authentic leadership of the APC in Benue State, settling a prolonged internal dispute—at least for now.
