The Nigeria Customs Service has urged the public to disregard two circulating documents falsely claiming to announce screening schedules for candidates who passed the Computer-Based Test in its ongoing recruitment exercise.
In a statement posted on its verified X account on Wednesday, the Service described the documents as fake and clarified that they did not originate from the NCS.
“FAKE NEWS ALERT. The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been drawn to a fake content currently circulating on social media.
“The NCS wishes to state clearly that these claims are false and did not originate from the Service,” the alert read.
The forged announcements, which were stamped “FAKE” in the official post, listed specific screening dates in early June 2026 and venues across various zones.
They also contained requirements for the purported exercise, such as dress codes and identification.
The NCS urged applicants and the general public to ignore the messages and rely solely on information from its official communication channels.
This latest denial comes amid prolonged public interest and frustration over the 2024/2025 NCS recruitment process, which has seen multiple stages, including application, CBT, and profile updates.
Earlier in May 2026, the Service had opened a portal for shortlisted candidates to complete final screening updates ahead of interviews and physical screening, with a deadline of May 10.
Applicants have repeatedly been warned that the entire recruitment exercise is free, and no payments should be made to any individual or group for any stage.
The NCS has consistently cautioned against scammers and fake announcements that exploit the high number of applicants eager for updates on the delayed process.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to supporting reforms that promote fair market practices, transparency, accountability, and improved service standards across Nigeria’s electricity sector.
LASERC had disclosed it is establishing zonal offices in Ikorodu, Amuwo Odofin/Badagry axis, and Sangotedo/Epe axis to improve complaint resolution and enhance access to regulatory services across the state.
The commission said the offices are expected to become operational in the third quarter (Q3) of 2026.
Also, LASERC plans to issue grid interface guidelines by July 2026 to regulate collaboration between Lagos electricity licensees and federal electricity institutions.
In addition, the commission said it will commence a 100 percent grid and customer metering initiative by July 2026 to improve billing transparency and reduce estimated billing.
